Console Table
Console dimensions
A console is a narrow, long piece: generally 35-45 cm deep and 75-90 cm high. The shallow depth is deliberate, since it has to sit against the wall without narrowing the walkway. Width usually ranges from 120 to 180 cm and is chosen in proportion to the dining table; a console noticeably shorter than the table looks lost on the wall. The consoles in our catalogue with listed dimensions are wider, at 208-228 cm, designed to go with large dining tables.
If the dimensions of a model are given on its product page, you can see them there; if not, ask us on WhatsApp and we will confirm and get back to you the same day. We do not guess dimensions.
Console or sideboard
The two are often confused. A console is narrow, tall and mostly decorative; a sideboard is wider and deeper, and its real job is storage. If your dining room is small, a console is the better choice; if you host large meals and store a lot of serving ware, a sideboard is.
Where to put a console
The most common place is the wall behind the dining table, one step away while you serve. The second is the entrance hall: the top holds keys and bags, and the mirror is the one you check on your way out. In the living room it is used on the wall opposite the TV unit or behind the sofa.
Leave at least 80-90 cm in front of the console: drawers and doors will open and you will stand in front of them. Between the dining table and the console, this space should remain even when a chair is pulled back.
Should the console and mirror be bought together
In most series the mirror above the console is sold separately but comes from the same series, so the finish, handle colour and shape match exactly. With a mirror bought elsewhere later, that match is hard to achieve. If you use the console without a mirror, a painting or a wall lamp above it visually completes its height.
Price
Prices are shown on each product page. The difference comes from the body width, the type of finish (lacquer, wood veneer, glass top), metal details and whether the mirror is included. Bought as part of a set, the console usually comes within the dining room set and works out better value than buying it separately.
What to check
Check that the drawers open fully, whether soft-close runners are used, and the material of the top. A lacquered top shows marks, while a glass top shows fingerprints but stands up well to wet stains. On models with legs, ask whether the legs are screwed or slotted into the body; it makes a difference when moving.
