Nesting Tables

A nest of tables is a set of two or three small tables that slide under one another so the whole set takes up no more room than a single table. This practical design, opening out whenever you need it, makes it both elegant and functional: surfaces you can spread out easily when hosting guests and nest together to save space when you are not using them. How many pieces, what size
Our catalogue has two-piece and three-piece sets. Where dimensions are listed, the pieces are: Massimo 50 x 35 x 54 cm and 60 x 35 x 60 cm, Braga 55 x 60 cm and 55 x 55 cm, while Mila is made of three equal 38 x 38 cm tops at heights of 51, 47 and 43 cm. Nesting tables are generally 40-60 cm high; the largest piece is the tallest and the others slide beneath it.

Choosing the height
A table used beside a sofa should have its top at arm height or a few centimetres below it; you should not have to lift your shoulder to reach for a glass. If the set goes in front of the sofa instead of a coffee table, bringing the lower piece forward looks balanced. With a high-armed sofa, it works well to put the tall piece beside the sofa and the low one beside an armchair.

Materials and care
The collection has cream, beige and black lacquered tops; metal frames in bronze, gold or brass tones; and wood veneer options. There are oval, round and square tops. Lacquered surfaces are wiped with a soft, damp cloth; using coasters under hot cups and wet glasses keeps the lacquer glossy. When nesting the pieces, lift them from below rather than sliding them against the edge of the top.

Where to use them
The most common place is beside a sofa or armchair. In small living rooms they can replace a coffee table: kept together during the day, they become a separate surface for each guest when people come round. In a bedroom they can stand in for a nightstand, or serve as a lamp table in a reading corner.
