Dresser

A dresser is the main storage piece with drawers in a bedroom. The wardrobe is for clothes that hang; the dresser is for folded clothes, underwear and bed linen. Selishome dressers come in the same fabric and colour as the bedroom set they belong to.

Dresser dimensions
The dressers in our catalogue are about 156-165 cm wide, 46 cm deep and 87 cm high. These figures are for the body; on models with a mirror, the mirror sits above the body and the total height increases. For models whose dimensions are listed on the product page, you will find them there; if not, ask us on WhatsApp and we will confirm and get back to you the same day.

With or without a mirror
Our catalogue has two kinds: models supplied with a mirror and models that are the body only. The mirror comes either to rest on top of the dresser or to be fixed to the wall. The choice directly affects how bright the room feels; in a narrow room with little light, a mirrored dresser makes the room look noticeably larger. If the wardrobe doors already have a mirror, you may not need a second one.

Where to put a dresser
The most common place is the wall facing the bed; with a mirror, this makes the room look twice as deep. The second option is beside the wardrobe. Leave at least 70-80 cm in front of it so the drawers can open fully: the drawers are 46 cm deep, and you will be standing in front of them.

A dresser, or drawers inside the wardrobe
Adding a drawer module inside the wardrobe saves floor space but has two drawbacks: you cannot use the drawers without opening the wardrobe door, and they are usually narrower than dresser drawers. If your room allows, a separate dresser is more practical, and its top gives you a surface for everything the nightstand cannot hold. If the room is very tight, drawers inside the wardrobe are the right call.

As part of a set, or on its own
A dresser is usually part of a bedroom set. Bought with the set, its handles, fabric and colour match the other pieces exactly; with a dresser bought separately later, that match is hard to achieve. Nightstand, dresser and dressing table
A nightstand is the low, narrow piece beside the bed. A dresser is wide and tall, and it is where the real storage is. A dressing table is used sitting down, is at table height, and storage is a secondary purpose. A room can have all three; none replaces the others.

Dressers that double as a dressing table
Some of the mirrored dressers in our catalogue are really two pieces joined together: a top with drawers left open underneath, and a cabinet with doors beside it. The open part is the dressing table: pull up a pouffe or stool and sit there, with the mirror directly above that section. The cabinet with doors works as the dresser. So a single wall holds both a getting-ready corner and storage.

Our models built this way are Opera, Velora, Granada and Massimo. All four have a mirror, a knee space and a top with drawers; they differ in body colour, door texture and width.

What height should a dressing table be
A comfortable height for a surface used sitting down is generally 75-80 cm, the same logic as a dining table. The dresser body is taller (around 87 cm on our models) because it is used standing. When the two sit side by side, the difference creates a step; the pouffe that goes under the top should be 40-45 cm high so your knees do not touch it.

The mirror matters more at a getting-ready corner: it should centre on your eye level and, if possible, get light from the side. A single light from above casts shadows on the face.
