Inegöl Furniture Data 2026: New Findings and Open Data from Chamber Records

Short answer: The member lists of the Inegöl Chamber of Commerce and Industry (İTSO), dated 9 March 2026, contain 2,017 records in the four furniture trade groups. Once branch registrations and firms registered in more than one group are merged, that comes to roughly 1,868 separate businesses. 21.3% of the records sit on streets simply called "Mobilya Sokak" (Furniture Street), numbered 1 to 33. Sole proprietorships made up 56.2% of furniture members in 2014 and 14.8% on the March 2026 list. Newer registrations are about three times as likely as older ones to carry an English or brand word in the company name. This page brings together every finding, the method, the limitations and downloadable aggregate tables.

Inegöl is a town of around 300,000 people in Bursa province, north-western Türkiye, and one of the country's best-known furniture production centres. All figures on this page were counted from İTSO's publicly available member lists. The basic count was published earlier in three Turkish-language articles: how many furniture firms Inegöl has, a neighbourhood map of the industry and companies versus workshops. This page adds new findings from the same lists. It names no individual firm and works only with aggregate counts.

Each finding carries a confidence level. Exact: a direct count. Method-dependent: the result can shift with the word list or matching rule, which is documented below. Estimate: rests on an assumption, which is stated.

About the trade groups: İTSO sorts its members into professional groups. The four furniture groups are Furniture Manufacturing (Mobilya İmalatı, 655 records), Seating/Upholstery (Mobilya Oturma Grubu, 687), Furniture Wholesale and Retail (Mobilya Toptan ve Perakende, 516) and Furniture Decoration (Mobilya Dekorasyon, 159). The Forest Products group (Orman Ürünleri, 224), which supplies raw material, is shown separately.

1. Newer firms pick English names and skip sole proprietorship (estimate)

Splitting the furniture records into two generations shows a clear shift. Among newer registrations the share of sole proprietorships falls from 24.5% to 6.7%. The share of names containing an English or brand word (HOME, DESIGN, CONCEPT, LIFE, PREMIUM, SOFA, FURNITURE and similar) rises from 8.6% to 24.9%, roughly threefold.

Cutting the list into five equal slices shows a gradual change. The English/brand share runs 3.2%, 13.6%, 18.3%, 24.8% and 26.7% from the oldest slice to the newest. The sole proprietorship share runs 35.1%, 17.9%, 11.4%, 4.5% and 6.2%.

How the generations were split: The way addresses are written changes at a certain point in each list. The old format reads "…MAHALLESİ … İNEGÖL/BURSA"; the new format, from the national address register, reads "…MAH. … İÇ KAPI NO … İNEGÖL / BURSA". In each group, the cut is the first position after which no more than 2% of records use the old format. Records after that point count as "newer".

Confidence note: The split assumes that list order follows registration order. A comparison with an older list dated 14 November 2022 largely confirmed this: firms that joined the chamber after 2022 are concentrated in the final block of the 2026 list. Formal confirmation from İTSO is still pending. The cut falls earlier than November 2022, so "newer" covers a longer period than the last three years. Because the year of the cut is unknown, this page avoids phrases such as "in the last X years".

2. The 2,017 records are about 1,868 separate businesses (method-dependent)

The same business can be registered more than once: a head office and a branch, or one record in a production group and another in retail. After names are normalised, the 2,017 records correspond to about 1,868 separate businesses. In other words, 149 records (7.4%) are a second or third registration of the same business.

• 125 businesses have more than one record: 101 have two and 24 have three.
• 65 businesses are registered in more than one trade group. The most common pairs are Seating plus Wholesale and Retail (26), Manufacturing plus Wholesale and Retail (22) and Manufacturing plus Seating (10).
• 50 businesses are registered both in a production group (Manufacturing or Seating) and in Wholesale and Retail. This points to manufacturers opening their own sales channels.

Method: Names were converted to unaccented upper case and punctuation was removed. Any branch name after the word "ŞİRKETİ" (company) was dropped. "SANAYİ VE TİCARET" and "SANAYİ TİCARET" (industry and trade) were merged into one pattern. The legal form was kept, so a joint-stock company and a limited company with the same name count as separate businesses. Eight randomly chosen matches were checked by hand and all were the same legal entity. The 7 damaged rows that could not be matched were counted as separate businesses.

3. One record in eight is a branch (branch count exact, head-office location estimated)

There are 246 furniture records whose name contains "ŞUBESİ" (branch), or 12.2% of the total. By group: Wholesale and Retail 19.0%, Decoration 16.4%, Manufacturing 9.6%, Seating 8.6%.

For 138 of these branches the head office or main record is also on the İTSO lists; for 108 it is not. Of those 108, 75 are named simply "İNEGÖL ŞUBESİ" (Inegöl branch), a strong sign that the head office is in another city. This is not certain: the head office could be registered in one of İTSO's non-furniture groups.

4. Which industries appear in furniture company names?

In Türkiye a company's registered name can list the fields of activity in its articles of association. Inegöl's furniture company names therefore show how widely the sector spreads. The shares below are based on the 2,017 furniture records.

One in five names says "construction"; almost none say "digital"

"Construction" appears in 26.7% of Manufacturing names and 28.3% of Decoration names. Scanning names against 25 industry patterns, 427 records (21.2%) declare at least three industries and 222 (11.0%) at least four. The longest names list nine. At the same time, 216 records (10.7%) contain none of the words for furniture, sofa, bed, chair or decoration.

IT and e-commerce words appear in only 6 names (0.3%). That does not mean these firms do not sell online. It only means the activity is not written into their articles of association.

Export words are most common among retailers

By legal form the share is 23.3% for limited companies, 17.3% for joint-stock companies and 2.3% for sole proprietorships. The phrase "DIŞ TİCARET" (foreign trade) on its own appears in 11.0% of retail names and 3.1% of manufacturing names. Judging by their names, part of the retail group is organised as export and foreign-trade marketing companies.

Key limitation: A word in a registered name is a declared field of activity, not evidence of activity. It cannot be concluded from this data that a firm with "export" in its name actually exports, or that one with "construction" in its name builds anything.

5. Inegöl's 33 numbered Furniture Streets (exact)

Inegöl addresses use 33 different numbers in the pattern "No. N Mobilya Sokak", and the series runs from 1 to 33 without a gap. 429 furniture members are registered on these streets, or 21.3% of all furniture records. Including Forest Products members, the total is 461.

• The busiest is Furniture Street No. 26 (38 furniture records), followed by Nos. 27 and 33 (28 each).
• Streets 1 to 32 are in the Mahmudiye neighbourhood; No. 33 is in Mesudiye. (Of the 9 records on No. 32, including Forest Products, 2 give Deydinler as the neighbourhood.)
• All 109 furniture records with "Mobilya Caddesi" (Furniture Avenue) in the address are in Yeniceköy.

6. Production in Mahmudiye, retail in Yeniceköy and Huzur (exact)

The table shows what share of each group's members is based in each neighbourhood. Looking from inside each neighbourhood makes the split sharper. Of the 239 furniture members in Yeniceköy, 49.4% are in Wholesale and Retail; in Huzur it is 63.3% of 60. In Mahmudiye the share is only 19.2%.

The single address with the most records is No. 2, Mobilya Vadi Caddesi in Huzur, with 39 furniture records. Second is a shopping arcade on Mobilya Caddesi in Yeniceköy (25 records). These are not single firms but arcades and furniture malls housing many shops. Ignoring unit numbers, 645 records (32.0%) share their address with at least one other furniture record.

7. Forest Products: the raw-material chain starts in the villages (exact; two interpretations estimated)

The Forest Products group has 224 members: 142 limited companies, 36 sole proprietorships, 25 joint-stock companies and 21 village agricultural development cooperatives (9.4%). There are no cooperatives in the furniture groups.

• The cooperatives are at the very top of the list: 17 of the first 18 positions. If list order is registration order (see section 1), the chamber's oldest forest-products members are village cooperatives. This interpretation is an estimate.
• Records with "KÖYÜ" (village) in the address: 19 in Forest Products (8.5%) versus 14 in furniture (0.7%). Records with no door number ("BİLA" or blank): 10.3% versus 1.5%.
• Records with a village or former-village neighbourhood address: 18.3% in Forest Products versus 3.5% in furniture. This relies on a hand-made neighbourhood list and is an estimate.
• Words in the names: wood/timber (AĞAÇ/AHŞAP/WOOD) 15.2%, transport 13.4%, agriculture/livestock 13.8% (0.9% in furniture), sawn timber (KERESTE) 6.2%.
• The two groups write each other's business into their names. 211 furniture records (10.5%) contain "ORMAN" (almost all as "ORMAN ÜRÜNLERİ", forest products), and 50 Forest Products members (22.3%) contain "MOBİLYA" (furniture). Yet the same business rarely appears on both sides: only 3 of the 210 distinct Forest Products names also appear in the furniture groups.
• Using the same generation split, sole proprietorships and cooperatives make up 38.2% of older and 7.5% of newer Forest Products records.

8. Other findings

• Letters outside the Turkish alphabet: 122 furniture names (6.0%) contain Q, W or X. The share is 4.7% among older registrations, 7.2% among newer ones and 8.3% in retail. Because it does not depend on a word list, this is an objective measure of foreign-sounding names. (Exact)
• HOME is the most common foreign word: it appears in 127 names (6.3%), followed by SOFA (39), CONCEPT (26), DESIGN (24), LIFE (20), GROUP (18), FURNITURE (16) and PREMIUM (16). The Turkish word for sofa, KANEPE, appears in only 3 names. In the Seating group the Turkish KOLTUK (sofa/armchair) appears in 44.8% of names. (Exact, depends on word list)
• "İNEGÖL" in the name: 206 records (10.2%), including branch names. The share is 15.5% in retail and 9.2% in manufacturing. 61 names (3.0%) begin with "İNEGÖL". The town's name seems to carry marketing value in retail. (Exact)
• Industrial estates and arcades: 94 furniture records (4.7%) have an address in the Small Industrial Estate (Küçük Sanayi Sitesi), 51 of them in Manufacturing. Of 58 records whose name or address mentions a mall or furniture arcade, 45 are in retail. (Exact)
• Family names: Among companies, names built on a family pattern (-OĞLU/-OĞULLARI, "sons of", or KARDEŞLER, "brothers") are under 5% (79 records, 4.6%). Without a surname dictionary this is an estimate, but it suggests most names are brand names rather than family names.
• Addresses: Every record has an Inegöl address; only 3 rows give nothing beyond "BURSA". Outside influence shows in branch names, not in addresses (see section 3).

Comparison with previous years

This section draws on two sources: the year-end membership tables in İTSO's annual reports for 2014–2024 (active and suspended members together), and trade-group lists dated 14 November 2022 found in the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine). No firm-level list from before 2022 was found, and the 2025 annual report was not yet available.

The share of sole proprietorships fell to a quarter in twelve years

Notes: Figures for 2014–2020 come from the chamber's former committee structure (committee 9 furniture production, 14 furniture wholesale/retail and foreign trade, 20 furniture decoration). These numbers are documented for 2018–2022. For 2014–2017 it is assumed that the committee numbers meant the same thing; the continuity of the figures supports this, but no document was found. The committee structure changed in 2021, so part of the change between 2020 and 2021 may reflect definitions. The March 2026 value (14.8%) comes from a second, cleaner parsing of the lists; the earlier Turkish article on companies versus workshops, based on the first parsing, gives 15.0%. The gap comes from a few truncated names.

November 2022 to March 2026: a third of the list turned over

• Records in the four furniture groups rose from 1,764 to 2,017 (+14.3%). Over the same period the two construction groups (Construction and Real Estate; Construction Materials and Services) rose from 802 to 913 (+13.8%). Both sectors grew at almost the same pace.
• In about 3.3 years a third of the furniture list was renewed. 24.7% of the 2022 records left the list and 34.1% of the 2026 records are new. (Moves between furniture groups are not counted as entries or exits. A firm that changes its name looks like one exit plus one entry, so these shares are upper bounds.)
• Among furniture records that joined after 2022, only 6.8% are sole proprietorships and 25.8% carry an English or brand word, compared with 12.1% on the whole 2022 list. This independently confirms the generation finding in section 1.
• The share of furniture records with "construction" in the name fell from 24.2% to 21.2%, while the absolute number stayed almost flat (427 to 428). Among new entrants it is 13.9%. The data shows no sign of furniture firms drifting into construction.
• The Construction and Real Estate group's share of all chamber members moved between 8.3% and 9.3% in 2014–2020 and has held at about 9.5% since 2021 (9.7% in 2021, 9.4% in 2022, 9.5% in 2023 and 2024).

Method and limitations

• Source: the trade-group member list PDFs published by İTSO at itso.org.tr/uyeler, all dated 9 March 2026. Groups covered: Furniture Manufacturing (655), Seating/Upholstery (687), Furniture Wholesale and Retail (516), Furniture Decoration (159) and, for comparison, Forest Products (224).
• Scope: only businesses registered with İTSO are counted. Businesses without chamber registration, workshops registered with other bodies (such as tradesmen's associations) and informal production are outside the scope. The figures count registrations, not output or employment.
• A word in a name is a declaration: words such as export, construction or transport show the declared field of activity in the articles of association. They are not evidence that the firm actually does that work.
• PDF parsing errors: in the furniture groups 7 names came out truncated and 3 addresses contain only "BURSA". In the first parsing, the first word of the address spilled into the name in the Forest Products group; figures for that group come from a second, cleaner parsing that reads row boundaries from the table lines. Figures may be off by a few records. None of the main findings is sensitive to this.
• Neighbourhoods: each record is assigned to the first neighbourhood name in its address. Counts may differ by a few records from the Turkish neighbourhood-map article, which used a different matching rule (for example 782 instead of 780 for Mahmudiye).
• The number of distinct businesses depends on a name-matching rule; the generation split assumes that list order is registration order. The family-name and village-neighbourhood classifications rely on hand-made lists and are estimates.
• Personal data: the names of sole proprietorships contain real people's names, so the raw list is not republished here. All shared tables contain aggregate counts only. The raw lists are available on İTSO's own website.

The tables are UTF-8 (with BOM), comma-separated CSV files. The decimal separator is a point (for example 21.2). Column names are in Turkish; OKU-BENI.txt explains them in Turkish and English. No table contains firm names, addresses or personal names.
