The bed frame is the first piece that determines the size and layout of a bedroom. Selishome bed frames are offered with a storage base in the 160x200 cm double size; 180x200 and 200x200 options are also available to order. On storage beds, the gas-lift base gives a storage volume as large as the whole bed, leaving no need for a separate cupboard for seasonal duvets, bedding and suitcases. At the headboard there are fabric-covered panels, boucle textures and wood surfaces; some models have concealed LED lighting along the headboard and a wireless charging pad. You can buy the bed frame on its own or as part of a bedroom set.

Storage bed or bed without a base
Our catalogue has both types. On a storage bed the base lifts on gas struts and reveals a mattress-sized chest underneath, a real gain in a bedroom with no wardrobe or a full one. A frame without a storage base has only the frame and legs; it is open underneath and easy to vacuum. It has two advantages: it is lighter, and you can arrange your own storage boxes with drawers underneath. The decision is simple: if you need storage, choose a storage bed; if easy cleaning and lightness come first, choose one without.

What to look for in a storage bed
The quality of the gas struts makes the biggest difference: the base should lift with one hand and slow itself down as it closes. Second, the distance to the ceiling and wall: the base swings upward as it opens and will hit any picture or shelf above it. Third, the inner surface of the lifting base should be fabric-covered; bare chipboard absorbs moisture over time.

Bed frame size is not mattress size
The 160x200 in catalogues is the mattress size, not the frame's. The outer size of the frame is larger by the side rails and the headboard; depending on the design, this can add anything from a few centimetres to 20-25 cm on each side. When checking whether it will fit, use the outer size of the frame, not the mattress size. If it is on the product page you will find it there; if not, ask us on WhatsApp and we will confirm it the same day. It is the one figure to settle before you order.

Will the bed fit the room
A practical rule: leave 60-70 cm of clearance along at least one long side of the bed, ideally both. Making the bed, changing the sheets and reaching the nightstand all need that space. A storage bed also needs free space at the foot so the base can lift. If the room feels tight, the first thing to try is not pushing the bed into a corner but going down one size: 160x200 instead of 180x200, or 90x190 instead of 100x200 for a single.

What the headboard is for
A headboard is not just for looks. It stops pillows sliding against the wall, keeps the wall clean and supports your back when you read sitting up in bed. If you like sitting up in bed, choose a tall, padded panel; if you want the room to feel airy, a low one. On fabric headboards a wipeable fabric matters, as it is the surface that wears most.

On its own, or as part of a set
You can buy the bed frame separately. Bought as part of a bedroom set, however, the bed, two nightstands, dresser, mirror and wardrobe come in the same fabric, colour and handles; with pieces bought separately that match is hard to achieve later.
