Buying Furniture from Turkey for Delivery to Europe: Shipping, Customs and VAT Explained
Short answer: Selishome delivers furniture from İnegöl, Türkiye, to homes across Europe. In Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Austria and Switzerland, door-to-door delivery is already included in the product price, so the delivery line in your basket reads "Free". Customs clearance and the import VAT of your country are handled by our logistics partner, so you pay nothing extra at the door. Bulgaria has its own rate, other European countries get an estimated delivery fee, and we do not deliver to the United Kingdom. The minimum order for any address outside Türkiye is 80,000 ₺ in products.

Why people in Europe buy furniture from Turkey
İnegöl, a town in Bursa province, is one of Türkiye's best-known furniture centres. According to the member lists of the local chamber of commerce (İTSO, March 2026), there are 2,017 furniture-related registrations in the town, which comes to roughly 1,868 separate businesses. What that density means for you as a buyer is choice. Large sofa sets with two full-size three-seaters, bedroom sets with a storage bed as standard, and extending dining tables built for big family meals are the norm here, not a special order. Our 2026 trends analysis shows the pattern across our own range: 19 of our 21 sofa sets with a defined standard package are "3+3+1", and every bedroom set is built around a bed with a storage base.
Selishome is a furniture store, not a factory. We choose the models we sell, check the frame, foam and fabric, and handle the order from your first question to delivery. The point is that you deal with one company for the whole journey, which matters more when the sofa has to cross several borders.

When you choose your delivery country on the site, prices are shown for that country. For the six main countries the price you see already carries the delivery share, and the basket shows delivery as free. You can check this on any product page, for example the Electra Bedroom Set: the page states how much of the price is the delivery share.
A note on payment: we collect payment in Turkish lira by card. The euro amount on the site is converted at the Central Bank of Türkiye rate shown on the page, so the amount on your card statement can differ slightly depending on your bank's exchange rate.
Customs and VAT: will I get a bill at the door?
No. This is the question we are asked most, so here is the full picture.
Türkiye is not an EU member, but the EU–Türkiye Customs Union means industrial goods such as furniture generally enter the EU without customs duty when they travel with an A.TR movement certificate. What does arise is import VAT in the destination country, plus the customs clearance itself. Standard VAT rates are 19% in Germany, 20% in Austria and France, and 21% in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Switzerland is outside the EU and outside the Customs Union. Trade runs under the EFTA–Türkiye Free Trade Agreement, and the standard Swiss import VAT (Einfuhrsteuer) is 8.1%.
For our orders, the import VAT and the customs formalities are handled by our logistics partner. You do not deal with a customs broker, and the driver does not ask you for tax.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery time depends on the product, not on the country:
- In-stock products: about 2 weeks
- Made to order: about 4 weeks (about 3 weeks of production + about 1 week of delivery)
- Custom production: about 8 weeks
- Stock to be confirmed: we tell you the time when we confirm the order
These times include delivery to your door in Europe; we do not add extra days for the road. Each product page shows its own time, and so does the contract. Most of our sofa sets, bedroom sets and dining tables are made to order in İnegöl, so about 4 weeks (about 3 weeks of production + about 1 week of delivery) is the figure to plan with. Assembly: what to expect
- Sofa sets and corner sofas need no assembly.
- Dining tables, chairs, TV units and coffee tables go together easily with a small cordless screwdriver. In a dining room set, the console is the piece that takes a little more effort.
- Bedroom sets are the most involved to assemble. If you are ordering one, talk to us before you order about how assembly will work at your address.
What if something arrives damaged?
A long road is the fear behind most hesitation, so we will be precise. Transport damage is our responsibility: all risk stays with us until the furniture is handed to you, and our shipments are insured.
- Open the packages with the driver present. If anything is damaged, photograph it and have it noted on the delivery document (CMR).
- Tell us within 48 hours, with photos, on WhatsApp (+90 552 994 17 17) or through our contact page.
- Damaged parts are replaced free of charge. Damage is usually limited to one door or panel. We send the new part with the next shipment, and fitting it needs only simple tools. If you would rather not wait, we can offer a discount instead.
The 48 hours is a request that helps us act fast; it does not limit your statutory withdrawal or warranty rights. Our returns and warranty pages have the details.
How to order, step by step
- Measure first. Check the room, and also the door, stairs and lift. Our guide to whether furniture will fit through the door takes ten minutes and saves weeks.
- Choose your delivery country on the site so that prices and delivery are shown for your address.
- Pick the model and the set contents. Many sets can be changed: a second armchair, a different bed size, extra wardrobe modules.
- Place the order and pay by card. Remember the 80,000 ₺ minimum for addresses outside Türkiye (products only, excluding coupons and delivery). Coupons never reduce the delivery share.
- We confirm the delivery time for each product and keep you updated until the truck reaches your street.
