Buying Furniture in İnegöl: What to Know Before You Go

Short answer: a trip to İnegöl to buy furniture is, if you go prepared, a journey on which you can settle a whole home in a single day. Take room measurements, a simple sketch, door and lift measurements, and photographs of the rooms with you; set aside at least a full day; and make sure the order form has the dimensions, colour, fabric code and delivery date in writing. Setting off without measurements usually ends in a second trip.

We explained why İnegöl is Turkey's furniture centre in a separate article. This one is a road guide for anyone who says "I'll go and buy it in person".

Before you go: what should you take?

The first question you will meet in a showroom is this: "How long is your living room wall?" Anyone without the answer to hand decides by guesswork.

Take with youWhy it is needed
Room measurements (width × length × height)To work out on the spot whether the set will fit
A simple sketchShows windows, doors, radiators and walkways
Door, lift and staircase measurementsThese decide whether the item can get into the home
Dimensions of furniture you are keepingIf the new set shares a room with the old, the proportions must work
3-4 photographs of each roomAn adviser cannot suggest anything without seeing the wall colour

↔ Scroll the table sideways to see all of it.

Take a colour sample from a wall, curtain or rug too; holding the swatch next to your own colour makes deciding easier. If you are not sure how to measure, see how to measure for furniture and will furniture fit through the door and the lift. Save the measurements on your phone rather than on paper.

How much time should you allow? A realistic day plan

Setting off thinking "we'll go in the morning and come back in the evening" is a common mistake; choosing furniture is done on your feet, and tiredness spoils the decision. The realistic measure is this: 3-4 showrooms can comfortably be visited in a day. Any more and what you have seen starts to blur together.

TimeWhat to do
09:00-11:00First stop: look around without deciding, get a feel for models and prices
11:00-13:00Second stop: photograph what you like, note the dimensions
13:00-14:00Take a break; the order signed while tired is the most regretted
14:00-17:00Third stop; narrow the shortlist to two options
17:00-19:00Decision and order: have the dimensions, fabric, colour and delivery date written down

↔ Scroll the table sideways to see all of it.

If you are coming from a distant city, plan an overnight stay from the outset and split the rooms across separate days. The Selishome showroom in İnegöl is open Monday to Saturday, 09:00-19:00 and closed on Sunday. Address and contact details: our contact page.

What to look at in the showroom

What to check in the showroom: are the gaps between doors even, does the drawer open all the way?
What to check in the showroom: are the gaps between doors even, does the drawer open all the way?

The display item is at its best. The real question is: will the item that comes to your home be the same? On a made-to-order set the fabric, foam firmness or leg type may change; that is normal, but whatever changes must be in writing.

  • Frame: ask what the body is made of, lean back against the backrest, put weight on the arm.
  • Seat: sit for two or three minutes, not ten seconds; does the foam recover?
  • Workmanship: are the stitches even, are the edge bands clean, what is the back of the cabinet like?
  • Mechanism: open the drawer all the way, try the extending table and the storage base yourself.

The list of questions to ask in the showroom

Save this list on your phone and ask the same questions everywhere; writing the answers side by side makes the right option obvious.

  • How many weeks is delivery? Is it from stock or made to order?
  • Who handles transport, and up to which floor is it carried?
  • Who does the installation, and does the team come on the same day as the item?
  • How many years is the guarantee and what does it cover? How do fabric, mechanism and frame differ?
  • Is a change of fabric or colour possible, and does it extend the lead time?
  • Can the dimensions be changed? Can the sofa be made shorter, for example?
  • What are the deposit terms? What happens if the item arrives damaged?

Guarantee coverage: furniture guarantees and after-sales. We explained why the answer to the first question varies from showroom to showroom in why furniture delivery takes longer.

Get everything in writing when you order

Get everything in writing when ordering: dimensions, colour, fabric, delivery date and installation.
Get everything in writing when ordering: dimensions, colour, fabric, delivery date and installation.

The most critical fifteen minutes of the trip is when the order form is filled in; a verbal understanding is no use on delivery day. The form should contain:

  • The product name and the dimensions piece by piece (sofa, coffee table, wardrobe, bed frame separately)
  • The fabric name and colour code — "beige" is not enough, there must be a code
  • Any special dimensions or change requests, in a clear sentence
  • The delivery date, or the latest delivery week
  • Who is responsible for transport and installation
  • The payment plan, the deposit and when the balance is due
  • The delivery address, floor and whether there is a lift

Take a signed copy and photograph it together with the swatch you chose.

Can you buy without going?

You can. What decides it is whether the product page gives as much information as a showroom: piece dimensions, material and fabric details, and a phone number that gets answered. If those three are there, deciding from a distance carries no real risk. On the Kays corner sofa set and Larin bedroom set pages, for example, the dimension breakdown is written out clearly; you can look through the sofa set collection with the same eye.

If seat firmness is critical for you, if you are very particular about colour, or if you are having something made to a special size, going really is worthwhile. We covered shipping to another city in sending furniture out of town and the flow of the process in order, delivery and installation. 6 common mistakes on an İnegöl trip

  • Going without measurements: the most common and most expensive mistake; you come home undecided.
  • Visiting only one place and deciding: regret is high when there is nothing to compare.
  • Not asking about deposit terms: cancellation and delay should be discussed up front.
  • Not allowing for the door and the lift: an item that fits the room may not get up the stairs.
  • Not having the colour code written down: if the tone you saw is not recorded, arguments follow.
  • Finishing everything while exhausted: a hasty evening decision gets used for years.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth buying furniture from İnegöl?

If you are buying a complete set, yes: you can see and try many models in one day and compare fabric and colour in real light. For a single coffee table the travel cost usually does not pay for itself.

How many days should an İnegöl furniture trip be?

One day is enough for a single room; if you are furnishing a whole home, two days is wiser. Weekdays are generally quieter, and the Selishome showroom in İnegöl is closed on Sunday.

Can furniture be made to measure?

On many products the fabric, colour and dimensions can be changed; such requests may extend the production time. Have what you want written on the form in a clear sentence. For questions, get in touch.
